If you've just gotten engaged, there are probably quite a number of things on your plate right now. You have to find a venue, pick a date, choose colors and a theme, pick out food, find a cake, choose a band/DJ, make a guest list, choose bridesmaids/groomsmen, as well as a number of other things. Don't forget, you also need a dress to wear - not just any dress - THE dress. To help you find the right dress, there are things you can do to help. Read on for tips to help you find the right one.
1. Make An Appointment
Be sure to make an appointment with the bridal salon before going to try on wedding gowns. You want to be sure you have all the time you need at the salon to try on gowns and you also want to be sure you have a sales person to help you and a fitting room to try gowns on. Walk-ins may be able to browse dresses, but you may not have anyone to help you, and all of the fitting rooms may be full. Always make an appointment before attempting to go to the bridal salon.
2. Bring The Right People
Bring the right people with you to your bridal salon appointment. The right people will be there to help you, not make your day stressful or irritate you while you're trying to try on gowns. You need people that will be honest, but not hurtful. Limit the amount of people you bring with you so you don't have too many different opinions.
3. Wear Proper Undergarments
Bring along the bra you plan on wearing under your dress. Bring one or more if you have them, depending on the type of dress you plan on wearing. Whether it's strapless, open back, or low-cut in the front, you want to be sure you have the right bra to go with your dress. Be sure it fits you properly and offers plenty of support. If you plan on wearing other undergarments such as Spanx, bring them along as well.
4. Try On Multiple Styles
You may not know what you really look good in. Try on different styles that you may not have considered before. You may love the mermaid fitting gown, or prefer the ball gown style over the A-line style. Try on every style possible to give you a better idea of what you are looking for. You may be surprised with the dress you end up saying "yes" to.
